AEB: Russia’s new car, LCV sales rise 5.9% to 157,580 units in Nov
MOSCOW, Dec 4 (PRIME) -- Russia’s sales of new cars and light commercial vehicles (LCVs) rose by 5.9% on the year to 157,580 units in November, the Association of European Businesses (AEB) said on Friday.
"As expected, the strong start of the year-end race has continued with another month of growth. In November, the new vehicle sales increased by 5.9%, a little less than in October. Since the summer, the weakened ruble has been pushing the customer demand and, consequently, the sales. The New Year shopping time has started already and expected price adaptations by manufacturers additionally motivate faster purchase decisions," Thomas Staertzel, chairman of the automobile manufacturers committee, said, as cited in the statement.
In January–November, sales of new cars and LCVs decreased by 10.3% to 1.346 million units.
Sales of Lada cars of Russia’s largest carmaker AvtoVAZ increased by 22% to 38,064 vehicles in November and shrank by 7% to 302,744 vehicles in January–November.
